Ghostly Places (work-in-progress)
Ghostly Places is a work-in-progress VR performance and part of Furkan Ak’s ongoing artistic research into ghostly presences, memory, and immersive technologies. The project follows the night ghosts of St-Gilles, Brussels, through stories shared by Ak’s neighbors. Ghostly Places explores how cities remember and forget, how hidden histories linger in shadows, doorways, and everyday spaces. It invites us to tune in to what usually stays unnoticed.

Body Needs Bass
What happens when a body starts moving and can’t stop? Body Need Bass is inspired by the dancing plague of 1518, when Madame Trofea stepped into the street and began to dance, sparking a wave of uncontrollable movement. This project taps into that same raw impulse—the need to move, to feel, to resist. Set in an immersive, club-like environment, the performance surrounds the audience with heavy bass, lights, and collective motion. You can dive into the rhythm or remain at the edges, observing the energy as it builds. Both ways of experiencing are equally vital. It is a space where bodies think through movement. Where resistance pulses through sound. Where presence becomes power.

There are no others, this is only us
“How does your head look to your eyes?
Well, I'll tell you . It looks like what you see out in front of you.
Because all that you see out in front of you is how you feel inside your head. It is easy enough to stand still.
The difficulty is to walk without touching the ground.
Why do you feel so heavy?
It isn't just a matter of gravitation and weight.
It is that you feel that you are carrying your body around..”
