Furkan Ak (he/him) (b. 1992) is a theatre director, actor, and researcher based between Antwerp, Brussels, and Istanbul. He is currently pursuing a PhD in the Arts at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp/University Antwerp. He holds Drama Directing-Writing (MA) degrees from the Royal Institute of Theatre, Cinema and Sound (RITCS) in Brussels and Theatre-Acting (BFA) Yeditepe University in Istanbul.

Through practice as research (PaR), Ak mainly focuses on immersive technology, ghosts and hauntological dramaturgies in his works. He regularly writes on hauntology and performance for international performing arts magazines and journals in Belgium and beyond. His research has been presented at international conferences and panels across Europe, contributing to ongoing conversations on hauntology, migration, and immersive performance. Alongside his artistic work, Ak occasionally leads masterclasses and guest lectures, sharing insights from his research and practice.

His projects Ghostly Places and Rare Sun have received support and recognition, including the Flanders Government Emerging Talent Grant for Artistic Research and finalist for the Roel Verniers Prize at Het TheaterFestival in Belgium.
